So, what IS Sonic Spinball Beta?

It's a beta version, or pre-release of the game Sonic Spinball. It was released to magazines about a month before the game was officially released. Being a beta version of the game, some things are different compared to the final version, for example some things may be buggy or incomplete, sounds may be different and so on.

Where did you find the ROM?

I didn't find it -- the previous owner of this web site did, Elliot. He found it by searching Chinese and Japanese search engines, and stumbled across it here. The web site was shut down long ago.

Who dumped the ROM?

It was dumped by an old BBS on California. They attached a "demo" onto the ROM promoting their BBS, which ran before the main Beta ROM started.

What would the original cartridge have looked like?

If you have a look on eBay there are often "prototype" games going around. It could be just a box with a blank label on it for all I know.

Why can't I download the ROM from this site?

Because it's the rules -- NO ROMs on the server whatsoever. You can download an IPS patch off the download page, and attach it to the SS Final ROM. If you don't want to do that, go search for the Beta ROM on Google or something.
