--- By Ryoga Masaki --- Cracking Chaotix --- Ok, this is my first theory, so if it sounds stupid, forgive me. So what exactly IS Sonic Crackers? I have no clue. Some people think it's an unfinished Sonic 4, some people think it's a fan made game... Personally, I think it's an unfinished Sega game, specifically Knuckles' Chaotix. This may sound kinda weird, but... First of all, the connected players. Sonic and Tails both hold rings with a type of elastic, starry rope thing (I forgot what they called it in Chaotix) that can propel them forward if used properly. The exact same thing was used in Knuckles' Chaotix, as was the idea of "holding" the other character. Another obvious giveaway to Chaotix is the music. Every track used is from Chaotix, with no difference at all. Also, the fonts are Chaotix type. On a more inobvious level, the zones are rather large, as the Chaotix levels were meant to be. Also, and these theories are probably wrong, but just maybe, they might be right. Anyway, in the SELECT screen, the levels are named ATTRACTION. This COULD have something to do with the storyline (of a carnival-type theme). Also, the "FIELD" could be the stage select area. I haven't played much of Chaotix, so I'm not sure of what that would be called. So what does this all mean? Well, I have four theories. One, Knuckles' Chaotix was originally meant to be a Sonic/Tails game for the MegaDrive, but with the realease of the 32X and the popularity of Knuckles at the time, they switched from Genesis to 32X and used Knuckles and a slew of other new characters, scrapping the Genesis/Sonic version. Another theory is that it is a sequel to Chaotix, which would explain the same music, fonts, etc. but this makes no sense, because by the time the 32X came out, 16-bits were headed out the door. The next theory is that it was a test game, made simply to test the capabilities of the Genesis to prepare it for the 32X. Maybe they wanted to see how much the Genesis could handle while using little of the 32X's "power" (cough, cough). At the time, they had planned to use Sonic and Tails, and the Knuckles & Co. idea was added later. The fourth theory is that it is fan-made, although I don't think that's true. If it is, then whoever made it is VERY good and has WAY too much time. ^_^ Well, those are my thoughts on the game. Take them for what they're worth.
