October 2000 News

  • IGN has announced that acording to a few Japanese sources, Sega and Nintendo are supposedly merging. You can read the article here. Thanks to Sonicblur for bringing it to my attention. Personally I see this as just a silly rumor -- a lie more less. I have enough experience in the world of business and marketing to know that both companies would both lose quite a lot of money doing something like this. Dreamcast sales in the US have sky-rocketed as Wiseman has stated. As for Japan, the Dreamcast is indeed a huge hit, but with X-Box out, it will take some time to boost sales up. Never the less, Sega is NOT losing money to my knowledge (though correct me if I am wrong), and so I see that article as nothing more than a rumor.

  • Wiseman here! Sonic Adventure sold more than 10 million copies, becoming the best selling Dreamcast game! Way to go Sonic! Sonic Adventure 2 is under development, and it looks very promising. A demo version of the game will be given with Phantasy Star Online (Sonic Team's stunning online RPG) when launched in Japan.
