  • We've all used IPS patches for hacking. However, one thing I have noticed is the things that the IPS format lacks that could help make the format better, as well as allowing things which would be helpful for hackers and users alike. To correct this, I have developed the SAX patch format. This uses a completely different format from IPS patches. You can also have more than one patch in a single file for user-customizable options. It will allow comments by the creator for info they would like to be displayed on the user's screen.

All this sounds nice, but software is still in great need to support this brand new format designed specifically for Sonic ROM's. So far, Wiseman has desided to help by creating a DOS program to support the patch format. However, I still need programs for other operating systems as well. Check out http://ssrg.emulationzone.org/previews/saxpatch.htm for more information

  • The Sonic 2 Beta Hacking Guide's of former staff member LocalH and our own Nayr will be merging to form one Sonic 2 Beta Hacking guide. For those familiar with SSRG's history, the track record of projects mergeing has been extremely successful, yielding a better site for the viewers. I am confident that this will be no exception.
