April 2001 News

(4-28-2001)
  • We have reached 250,000 hits! This is indeed quite an accomplishment and I'd like to thank everyone for making it posible. However, I'd like to give a special thanks to Aqual Dragon because he was our #250,000 visitor! Our next hit will be 500,000.

  • Big News! Stealth has completed generating the level maps from Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic CD! They will be posted on the Sonic Map Archive Section once I get a chance to download them and watermark them.

  • Tristan will be hosting a special edition of Seven this Friday (April 27). At 4:58 PM Eastern time (GTM -05:00), the countdown theme will begin. Then, at 5:00, the main show will begin from there on until 11:30. This will be a live cast of Seven. You can check out http://radio.emulationzone.org/Seven/ for more information. It is also strongly recommended that you go to the chat available there during the time that the show will be airing as Tristan will be requesting questions and comments from people that they might have.

  • An Italian mirror of the Lock-On hacking guide has been posted. Goto the Lock-On technology hacking guide for the link. A big thanks goes out to Nime for doing the translation.

  • That's the 'second' bad release of Chaos. First it was a bad link. The second time it was a bad compile -- thus why nobody could get it to run. Anyhow, I have fixed it this time and several people have tested it and gotten it to work. I appologize for this. It 'should' work this time. You can get it once again, at the Sonic Hacking Community website.

  • Sonic HackingWiz Pro Version 1.20 is coming soon!

    New features:
The special stage grid used in the Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles collection, and Sonic & Knuckles savestate hacking utilities has been moved to a separate file, thus making the distribution size smaller.
There is a new totally-restyled About dialog.
Dragging a ROM file onto the main menu bar's title bar loads that ROM.

Check out my site at http://ssrg.emulationzone.org/gerbil when it is released to get it!

  • I appologize for the bad link to the Chaos binary. It has been fixed now and it's ready for downloading. Again, it's available at the Sonic Hacking Community.

  • The Chaos source is available at the Sonic Hacking Community website for those of you who don't already know. However, lately there have been some complaints from people due to the lack of compiling knowledge. With this in mind, I have put up a binary (JAR) release of Chaos. It's also available at the Sonic Hacking Community website, and will hopefully be available on the SSRG Utilities Archive fairly soon. This fantastic editor is worth every moment of your time to try out. Hacking levels inside the Sonic 2 binary has been posible, but only by poor compression and way too much complex work that would oversize the ROM. Chaos is the solution to this and makes editing as easy as point and click.

  • We hope you enjoyed our little April Fool’s Day surprise on SSRG. I’m certain Red Alert 2 fans got a kick out of the Soviet invasion of SSRG. :) For those that missed it, you can check it out by clicking here. I would like to thank Reznor (AKA Ruski) for helping me brain storm the idea.
