June 2000 News

(6-29-2000)
  • According to SegaSonic.Net, a group of warze people have been able to successfully dump Dreamcast games! However, Sonic Adventure hasn't been dumped yet. I will have more info on this soon.

    (6-26-2000)
  • Localh has pretty much abandoned his post and now Stealth will be heading the SonicAds section of SSRG. If you sent any ads or email messages pertaining to that site to LocalH, please resent them to MStealthA@aol.com.

I would like to thank LocalH for his contributions in creating a slick layout for the SonicAds website.

  • Thomas has updated the French mirror of our main page. You can view it by selecting one of the links at the top of the page.

  • After two days of testing out ideas and restarting the SHOUTcast server a million times on the 'Zone, we now have an Internet Radio Station setup that does everything that I want it to do. Expect to hear move about this project in the coming days. In the mean time, you can listen in our automated feed via:

    http://216.32.166.91:14244/

The ability to preempt this automated feed with a live has been tested out successfully, so expect us to toss in live programming after we get setup.

Finally, if you are still interested, email Andy ASAP. There is little room left, so act fast!

  • WEMU Public Radio
What is better then one, privately controlled Sonic-based Internet Radio Station? Several public Sonic-based Internet Radio stations! Sounds far fetched? It can be a reality ASAP.

Interested in starting your own internet radio show but don’t want the burdon of having to upload megs of files around? Were you interested in doing a live show but the limitations of services out on the ‘net limited you to a “pre-recorded format”? Interested in being part of Internet Radio Station that is not entirely managed by a “bot”? Then we got a deal for you!

For more information, visit the news posting at EmulationZone.Org.

For a preview of our station, login to
    http://209.69.145.42:26000/

This station will be on and off all day today, so if you get an “ICY 401” error, check back in 15 minutes.

  • Bookmark Icon Added
For those that visit SSRG with Internet Explorer, you are in for a surprise! If you bookmark this site, the icon for this page will turn from the IE logo to Sonic. You might have to rebookmark our site for the change to change to take effect.

This slick icon has been brought to you by TsengRei of Twistedgaming.com (a.k.a EvilRyu on the ‘Zone)

    SonicAds Now Accepting Magazine Ads
I originally planed for SonicAds to be an archive on Sonic the Hedgehog video commercial clips. By request of the Sonic Community, we will be expanding this archive to accept scans as well. In short, we will be accepting scans made from any magazine showing an ad for any game in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” line of games. If you have a scan to contribute, email Localh , or visit his SonicAds section of SSRG for more info. (He will be posting word about this momentarily.)

    Map Archive Update
The response from the public concerning the map archive was overwhelming! I received a lot more responses then I expected. Therefore, processing of the applications is taking a lot longer then normal. I will be getting to them all shortly. I apologize to all the applicants for the delay.

Also, if anyone is interested in creating the “Map Archive” section for SSRG, let me know. This will most likely be a seasonal position once the archive is up. If you are interested, email Andy. I will be looking for people with great graphical and HTML coding/presentation skills. As always, this position is open to the public and to the staff of SSRG.

    Hosting Inquiry Backlog
I feel into a bit of backlog this week because of work. (It was a very busy week!) I will try to get to everyone’s hosting inquiry by the following weekend.

    Where’s Knuckles the Echidna?
Does anyone know the where about of “Knuckles the Echidna”, the new webmaster for Andre’s “Secrets of Sonic” web site? The last I hear from him, he was having trouble connecting to the Internet from his location. If someone could please update me, Andy, on his condition, I would appreciate it.

    Sonic Clock?
I found his program on my hard drive. It was in the LZH compression format. In any event, it’s entitle “Sonic Clock” and it features a clock with a pretty cool pic of Sonic and Tails. You can download it here.

    Oral Surgery
Finally, we at SSRG would like to wish WB of SonicHQ a speedy recovery from this surgery. He had to have all of his wisdom teeth removed because one was on the verge of hitting a nerve, literally.
