(3-30-2000) I would like to expand SSRG with a "STH Video Game Archive" section. Bascially, this section will contain full length clips of the ads used on TV to promote STH line of games, along with magizine scans, etc. However, I don't have the time to manage this section. However, SSRG has been flooded for the past month or so with requests from the public to join SSRG. So, I figure the best thing to do is to ask the public if anyone is interested in maintaining this section for SSRG. If you are interested, please email the following to wacko@emulationozone.org with the Subject of "SonicAD Application". DO NOT SEND THESE APPLICATIONS TO SAXMAN OR YOUR APPLICAITON WILL BE REJECTED. 1.) Real Name (Tracking people by alias is a pain.) 2.) Age 3.) Brief discription of your writing and webpage design skills. Links to your homepage a plus. 4.) Amount of involvment in the "Sonic Scene" on the 'net. (IE, experience with the Sonic Community.) 5.) Brief discription of your Graphically skills 6.) Brief discription of your Organizational skills. 7) An answer to the following questions: - Do you have a scanner or access to one? - Do you have access to Video recording hardware for the PC and/or Mac? - Do you have access to a AVI->MPEG or AVI->MPEG2 encoder? (Software or hardware.) - Name a difference between JPG and GIF images and/or JPG and BMP. - Which do you think is a better format for presenting a 150x150 video file running at 10 FPS with 8-bit@11Khz mono sound : AVI, MOV or MPG? What about 320x320 with 16-bit@22kHz sterio sound? - You have been emailed a scan from a book in BMP format that is 2.5 Megs in size. It is 1600x1200 is size and 32bits in color depth.. The text is large, so reducing the size of the image is an ok thing to do, but you don't want to sacrific details. How would you present this image to public so that someone running a 33k dial-up connection does not have to wait 10 minutes to find out what the image is about? (IE: how would you present this image to the public such that those running on a slow connection will not get bogged down when trying to get a quick idea of what the image is of, while keeping those with a speedy T1 connection the ability to view the image in all it's glorious detail?) - Word Problem: Sonic has 5 marbles. Dr. Eggman steals 3. Tails recovers 2 of the stolen marbles, but looses one in his dash to escape. How many Marbles does Sonic have now? (3-25-2000) (3-22-2000) (3-21-2000) (3-9-2000) (3-7-2000) I have just one line to say to all those poor saps that waited in line for the PS2. There will be alittle graphics board that will be coming out for the PC called the VooDoo5. According to 3dfx's website: "the Voodoo 5 6000 AGP features four processors working together to be the world's first 3D accelerator to break the Gigapixel barrier. Clocking in at over 1.33 Gigapixels a second..." Hmm, I heard the PS2 maxes at 18 Million. (The original emotion engine, which the PS2 was dervived from maxes out at 60 million, if I recall correctly.) Anyways, SONY is marketing the PS2 to do what the PC does right now: a high tech game platform, an internet acces device, an MP3 player and a DVD-Player. I can do all of that with my computer. However, their catch is that it will be alot cheaper to do it. Well, at $400, you have to look at your options and when you consider the DC is $200, it looks like the more attactive deal. (You still have to buy all the add-ons like a keyboard as extras with either console.) Sure, the PS2 is twice as fast as the DC, but it costs twice as much. Folks, if you want a speed demon, get a PC. If you want a cheap but respecible substitute, get the DC. The PS2 is priced too close to the middle to be considered either or. To be honest, I don't think DC users should be afread of the PS2. After all, the DC is firmly in place here in the states while the PS2 will have to play "catch-up" at launch. The new console by Nintendo, however, might be a threat, but they will have to do alot more (graphics wise) then the PS2 can do to kill the DC or the PS2. It will also have to do all the "extras" that the DC and PS2 currently do or will do to have a good shoot. (3-3-2000) | |
