July 2000 News

(7-28-2000)
  • I am proud to announce that Tristan’s TSSZ will be moving the ‘Zone momentary! We feel that Tristan’s experience with news and ‘net audio will make a wonderful contribution to the ‘Zone. The new URL will be http://tssz.emulationzone.org, once the move is complete.

As you might be aware, the old host, sega-zone.com is holding TSSZ, and it’s other sites, like the “Total Neon Network” “hostage” due to poor management.

  • For those that are unaware, Rlan's "Sonic Fan Game Head Quarters" (SFGHQ) was deleted by someone on July 27. The site was brought back online the next day via a backup that is performed every hour on the server.

In any event, I have identified the person who deleted Rlan's SFGHQ website. For more info, read the following press release.

  • Johnny here again!
The first normal level replacements are going up at the Level Archive! Also, there's a wealth of new mazes Rush over immediately! Oh, don't forget to vote for the site.

  • Jan A. from Area 51 here.

I thought I'd have a new update done by now, but I simply...couldn't. -_- So, what I wanted to tell you, I'll be gone for the next 3 weeks or so. Just...don't think I'm dead or anything, OK? ^_^

  • A new section on the ‘Zone opens it’s doors today. The name of the site is “The Fan Game Network” and it’s being head by our own Rlan of Sonic Fan Games HQ fame. The goal of the site is to create a community for those creating fan-related games. The site currently is host to many projects, and it contains links to some of the best fan made games on the ‘net. You can find this site at http://fanmade.emulationzone.org.

  • Johnny here to inform y'all that YOUR creativity is needed at the Sonic Custom Level Archive. If you have the wonderful Maze Editor by our very own Mr Cyan Helkaraxe Esquire, then get cracking on making up some taxing, interesting, or even just downright funny mazes, then share them with the world. If you haven't got the aforementioned editor, WHY NOT?!? Get on down to the redesigned Underground Zone immediately!

Incidentally, there's rumor of a new improved version of the Maze-O-Matic, so keep watching the skies, people!

  • New WEMU Station Now Up

I have brought our test Internet Radio Station out of the test phase and opened it to the public!
Unlike other stations (excluding WSSN... when it's up) this station is being streamed from OUR server,
which means that our station is entirely under our control and jurisdiction! (The streamer was hacked together by myself.)

Much like the other station we have setup, this station has be optimized from the ground up to consume the least amount of bandwidth while providing the maximum sound quality possible at that rate. 28.8k modem users should be able to listen in and surf the web with out much problems! (Don't believe me? Tune in and hear for yourself!)
    surf the web

In any event, you can listen to this new station with Winamp or any app that supports steaming audio via

    http://ftp.emulationzone.org:26000

The existing stations are still up. For more info, check out radio.emulationzone.org (Will be updated soon!)

The next step for us will be to setup a formal show schedule and spawn off separate stations to suit the mood in which you are in.

  • Cyan Helkaraxe's page -- The Underground Zone -- has been completely redesigned. I should know since I'm Cyan Helkaraxe! =P

Anyway, the redesign coincides exactly with the first anniversary of the site; although not all of the sections are up yet, they should be made available pretty soon.
    Check it out!

  • Hi, I'm Ron, I'm co-producing Sonic: Project Mettrix with Stealth. I'm just here to say "hey! I have a page here too!", cause none seems to have put a link up to it yet..

Well, so far I only have the main page and Project Mettrix sections up, but please look at http://stealth.emulationzone.org/ron

  • Wiseman has put online Tom's french translation of his Bonus Codes section. You can see it by selecting the Bonus Codes section link.

Wiseman a mis en ligne la traduction française de Tom sur sa section de codes pour le jeu bonus de Sonic 1 & knuckles.
